ISABELLA MARIA REYES
Clinical & Cultural Psychotherapist Intern
Isabella (or Isa) understands our mental, emotional, and behavioral health to be connected to the larger project of community and collective health. In this, Isa sees the utilization and remembering of ancestral and communal knowledge to be some of the greatest tools we can call upon on our path toward personal, systemic, and lineage transformation. As a queer mixed-Xixanx, Isabella understands the world through multilayered perspectives. Isa works from a strengths-based approach that values the whole person, including the aspects of ourselves we may see as weaknesses or flaws. Isabella honors storytelling, art, and other forms of expression within the therapy setting.
Isabella has an extensive background in working with children and adolescents and sees youth as holding deep knowledge and insight of themselves and the world around them. They are excited to work with youth, adults, couples, and families of all gender expressions. Above all else, Isabella seeks to cultivate a therapeutic space that feels open, empathetic, expansive, and caring for people to understand, move, and work through their process on their own timeline. Isabella feels most at home when they are in the southwest, enjoying good food, dancing, and being outside with plants. Isa is currently in school for clinical social work at Smith College and is thrilled to be part of the Mayamotion familia for this coming year. ¡Nos vemos!
